aka Spenny Jim -- Born and lived in French Lick, Indiana
What’s your background?
Grew up in a rural area making things out of materials I found in the forest. Son of 2 artists.
How do you work?
I am usually working on 10- 20 projects at the same time in various states. So like a silly little bumble bee.
What art do you most identify with?
Contemporary. Post post post POST modernist.
What work do you most enjoy doing?
New work. New material. New process. I enjoy jumping into new things and learning as I go.
What themes do you pursue?
System design. Again, material/process based exploration. Letting forms respond from the systems I develop.
How has your practice changed over time?
As I learn new techniques, I put them in a bag and mix them all up. Those tricks in that bag are always changing, always dancing in there and reproducing.
What three artists/designers have given you the most inspiration?
Marc Newson, Collin Staley, Daniel Widrig
